Week 3: Types of corpora: Selecting or building a corpus?

Objectives

This week, we will discuss what a corpus is. Especially, you will learn:
- What are the basics of a corpus
- What corpora are available on the Internet
- When you should decide to build your own corpus

We will have in-class discussions based on the following chapters.

Homeworks for next week

You have two tasks for next week:

1/ You can try to install R and RStudio on your computer before the class, and read the documentation.

2/ You can keep thinking about a topic that you find interesting.

VERY IMPORTANT

Starting from next week, you will need to bring your laptop to the class!
